earned income and:
- $14500 for 2004
- $16,500 for 2005
- $18,000 for 2006

- $22,000 for 2010
- $22,450 for 2011
- 2012 Indexed to inflation

Members of employer sponsored pension plans or deferred profit sharing plans will have their allowable RRSP contribution room reduced by an equal amount to the value of the benefit earned under these plans in the previous year. This is known as the "Pension adjustment" amount (or PA).

Withholding tax is applied on the portion of withdrawals in excess of the minimum payment as listed below:
10% for amounts up to $5,000;
20% for amounts $5000.01 to $15,000;
30% for amounts over $15,000.
